What is Guna Milan (the 36 gunas)?
Guna Milan is the traditional Vedic method of scoring couple compatibility out of 36 points (the Ashtakoota system), based on the position of the Moon in each person's birth chart. Astera computes it automatically from your real charts, along with Nadi and Bhakoot dosha checks, so you see how aligned you are before you match.
Is kundli matching accurate for dating?
Kundli matching has guided marriages in India for generations. Astera blends that 36-point Guna Milan score with your intent and shared interests into one honest compatibility number, so it works for dating as well as marriage. It is a meaningful signal, not a guarantee: you still bring the connection.
Is Astera free?
Yes, joining and matching are free. There are optional premium plans for extras like seeing who likes you and full compatibility reports, but you'll never pay to find a genuine match.
When does it launch?

Do I need to know my exact birth time?
No. An exact time makes your chart more precise, but if you don't know it, Astera uses a sensible convention and tells you what that affects. You can update it anytime.
